Experiential and Experimental Textile Workshop
Everybody is welcome at our series of "Experiential and Experimental Textile Workshops” every Wednesday afternoon
Time: 15.00 - 17.00
University of Copenhagen
The Saxo Institute
Karen Blixens Plads 8
Building 12, 4th floor, room 68 (Tørlab)
Have you ever considered the textile of the past, or had an idea regarding a textile project, but haven’t tried it out yet? Do you simply want to learn more about textiles? Would you like to see in practice the historical working processing or the tools you have read about? Come and try out your idea or simply be inspired by others.
We will have several ongoing projects such as wool preparation: washing, cleaning, and combing of a fleece; spinning; warping and weaving on the two-beamed loom and weaving on the warp-weighted loom as well, teaching knitting, back strap weaving, and many other things.
Our workshops will include brief pop-up talks about ongoing work on historical and archaeological textiles. Topics will be announced a week before each pop-up talk.
Everybody is encouraged to come as many or as few times as he or she would like to work with ongoing projects, attend a single session or lectures, or to start up a project of their own, as yet unmentioned.
Still want to do it? Drop in and we will help you through your project.
Please feel to free to contribute with suggestions for coming workshops and/or pop-up talks.
