Prestigious grant for Marie-Louise Nosch

Dr. Marie Louise B. Nosch of the University of Copenhagen has been awarded the Anneliese Maier Research Award following a nomination by Prof. Dr. Beate Wagner-Hasel, Leibniz University Hannover.

The prize, donated by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research, is awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to internationally recognized researchers from abroad. This will promote the cooperation between specialist colleagues abroad and colleagues in Germany.

The prize money of EUR 250 000 is aimed at strengthening the cooperation in the field of ancient history and textile research between the Leibniz University Hannover and the University of Copenhagen. Marie Louise Nosch is the director of the Danish National Research Foundation’s Centre for Textile Research, which since 2005 has become a leading international center for research in textiles.

Marie Louise Nosch has conducted pioneering work on the textile industry in Mycenaean times and will in the summer semester 2015 teach at the University of Hannover.

She has formerly lived 6 years in Munich and now collaborates with colleagues and fellow scholars at the universities in Mainz, Kiel, Cologne and Marburg, with Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz, Krefelder Textilmuseum, Reiss-Engelhorn Museen in Mannheim as well as with Zentrum für Baltische und Schandinavische Arkæologie by Landesmuseum Schloss Gottorp Joint research projects are planned in addition to a series of meetings, seminars and workshops for young scholars and students from Germany and abroad.
