PhD Peter Andreas Toft

Ph.d. in Eskimology and Arctic Studies. MA in Prehistoric Archaeology and teaching. My ph.d.-thesis concerns the change in function and social meaning of European trade goods, including textiles and other dress elements, in the historic Thule culture of Greenland 1600-1900. Main research areas are colonial and Inuit history, trade and exchange, cultural encounters, prehistoric art and material culture.

My current research focus on early 19th century consumption of European commodities among the Inuit of southern Disko Bay.
