Dr. Maj Ringgaard, postdoc and conservator, National Museum of Denmark
Maj Ringgaard is trained in Textile Crafts, Archaeology and Conservation, with a PhD in Archaeology. Her PhD thesis, ”To par strixstrømper oc en nattrøie naccarat" Filtede og strikkede tekstiler fra omkring år 1700, fundet i Københavnske byudgravninger - og sammenhænge mellem tekstilers farve og bevaring. [”To par strixstrømper oc en nattrøie naccarat" Felted and knitted 17-18th century textiles found in Copenhagen excavations – and the influence of dyes on textile degradation], was a collaboration between CTR and the National Museum of Denmark from 2006-2010.
Ringgaard is an expert in textiles and conservation and lectures at a regular basis to conservators al over Scandinavia. She is the author of numerous scholarly works on conservation, dyes, and textiles. In the Fashioning the Early Modern research project Dr. Ringgaard will conduct postdoc research within the project Creative communities: knitting in Europe, 1500-1800 (see below).
