New funding for further research in textile researcher Margrethe Hald
Center for Textile Research has received funding from the Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen Foundation (DKK 250,000) and from the Beckett Foundation (DKK 150,000) to carry out the second part of the research project "Margrethe Hald: the Life and Work of a Textile Pioneer: new insights and perspectives" that have the title "A Bitter Fight for a Place". Historian Morten Grymer-Hansen coordinates the project in collaboration with art historian Ulrikka Mokdad. The work is ongoing until 28 February 2022.
This part of the project will uncover the long, difficult road that Margrethe Hald had to tread before she became Denmark's first female Dr.phil. in archaeology in 1950 (without having either a master's degree or a bachelor's degree) and internationally recognized textile researcher.
